The AT Section brings together experienced professors and young researchers with common interests and specific skills in the field of environment and life sciences.

Research topics range from the microscopic scale of the cell to the macroscopic scale of the landscape, with activities related to climate change up to sustainable land management. The multidisciplinary approach of the research, the collaborations within and outside the Section, and the excellent laboratories and infrastructures at the AT Section ensure a high quality of research and innovation. The work of the Section also aims at supporting local governments involved in land management.

Specialized laboratories are run by individual research groups. In parallel, multidisciplinary research and teaching laboratories are also available, promoting interactions between researchers from different scientific fields of the Section and beyond. In addition, the Section counts for numerous funded projects of national and international relevance.
